Amazing Netball Opportunity Comes To Yateley School!

On Friday 15th March the PE department organised a netball coaching day with Tamsin Greenway. Tamsin is an English netball player and was a member of the England National Netball Team playing either wing attack or goal attack. Tamsin had been a member of the England national team since 2004/05, making her senior debut against South Africa.

During her career she has competed at two Commonwealth Games (2006 and 2010) and one Netball World Championships (2007), collecting bronze medals at both Commonwealth Games. She also won silver at the 2010 World Netball Series in Liverpool.

Domestically, Tamsin played in the Netball Super league with the Surrey Storm. She previously played for the Team Bath teams that won back-to-back national elite Super league titles in 2005/6 and 2006/7. Tamsin now coaches Surrey Storm and commentates for the International matches.

Our students were very excited to be involved in the workshops, and benefited from her professional coaching and advice. Tamsin commented on how polite Yateley Students were, and how hard working and engaged the students had been throughout all of the workshop sessions. We would like to say a big thank you to Tasmin for coming in and working with our students. The day ran successfully, and we that we have inspired our students through this great opportunity.

'Stand Up for Shakespeare' Showcase

On Wednesday 6th February we hosted a 'Stand Up for Shakespeare' showcase as part of our three year partnership with The Royal Shakespeare Company and their Learning and Performance Network. The students involved performed a vibrant mixture of Shakespeare's 'greatest hits' accompanied by music and song for added entertainment!

This project has been led by Mrs Hearn and Miss Crutchley as well as Justin Audibert, a creative director from the The Royal Shakespeare Company, who guided the group through their performance, giving them some great tips to help them understand the meaning of Shakespeare's words in a more contemporary context.

This project is in its final stages and will end with a fantastic festival in the summer term which will include some of our local primary schools.
