Last week the BTEC Dance students took part in a vibrant and athletic workshop led by Lisa Rowley, a member of the professional dance company 'Joss Arnott'

About Joss Arnott Dance Company
Joss Arnott Dance is an internationally touring, cutting edge contemporary dance company based in South East England, led by Artistic Director and Choreographer Joss Arnott. The companies work focuses on athletic explorations and presentations of corporeal function influenced by Arnott's fascination with the body. Joss' work takes a surrealist approach to aesthetics relating with performance, drawing on influences from pop cultutre, fashion and film.

About Lisa Rowley (workshop leader for Joss Arnott) - Her career so far...
Originally from Leicester, Lisa trained at 'Dupont Stage School'. She then went on to train at Laban, graduating in 2008. Since then she has toured internationally with 'Transistions Dance Company', worked with Henry Oguike as a company member for his 2009 'Research and Development Period', danced with 'ACE Dance and Music' for their Spring 2010 tour of 'Switch' and worked with 'Tavaziva Dance' before joining Joss Arnott in 2010.

BTEC Dance
Lisa took our group of BTEC Dance students through a Joss Arnott styled masterclass, giving them an insight into  the movement style and demands that they would face as part of the company. The masterclass challenged students' to give in to gravity, to move at extreme speeds and isolate body parts rapidly. The group learnt a small section from 'Threshold', a piece the students had recently seen performed at South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell, which was extremely challenging but they all did really well!
