Student Opportunity - 'Rock the House' 2014!



Rock the House was initially founded by Mike Weatherley MP and has grown to become Parliament’s biggest competition with its aim being to raise awareness of Intellectual Property rights and the importance of live music.

The competition consists of 6 categories:
1.       Under 19 Solo Artist
2.       Under 19 Band
3.       Solo Artist
4.       Band
5.       Music Venue
6.       People’s Choice Award

The winner of the competition wins several prizes listed below:
·         To perform on the House of Common Terrace in front of celebrities, press and industry experts.
·         To compete in a Battle of The Bands at The Bedford in London, in front of influential music judges.
·         To play at the historic Cavern Club, which has played host to hundreds of music's biggest names and is the birthplace of the Beatles
·         Slots at music festivals, including the legendary heavy metal Download and Cornbury festival. (subject to suitability)
·         A slot at one of the phenomenally successful Festival Republic Festivals and a chance to mix with the giants of music
·         Perform at the Embassy Soho Havana Affair's new music night
·         The opportunity to have a song played in 650 CafĂ© Nero's across the world
·         Orange Amps
·         Two top of the line Gibson Guitars
·         Vouchers to purchase the Yamaha equipment of your choice
·         Full ISM Membership for both bands and venues
·         Band Performance workshops at The Institute
·         A single released by Cherry Red Records with artwork designed by Hugh Gilmour
·         Master classes in sound and lighting
·         An Ont'Sofa session to film a track at the Gibson Guitar Studios London
·         Internship opportunities at some of London's top Video Production Companies.

Just a little tip – my advice would be to act quickly as there is a lot of work to do in order to apply and the deadline at the end of March!
